Public art’s place within our environment
To some, public art is sculpture or statues. In reality, public art is so much more, from murals to iconic fountains, monuments and architectural installations.
Within a contemporary commercial or institutional context, public art acts as a cohesive element that binds a communal space. It’s a focal point that becomes part of the environment or landscape design, commissioned and created to inspire and enrich our daily lives.
Indoors or outdoors, temporary or permanent, at its best public art is magnificent and controversial, culturally progressive and affecting.
